Tell us a bit about yourself?

I started working at Becky about a year and a half ago, in January of 2021. Before that, I worked for 5 years in an accounting firm for the US market. Due to Covid, it got shut down and I was let go.

Then I ended up here. And thank god for that.

At the time, I was going extensively to interviews, answering cliche questions, and having pointless conversations. When I got interviewed at Becky’s it was a breath of fresh air. The interview felt amazing and the HR was different, kind, and interesting. I just knew I had to work here.

As for me, I got a degree from the Faculty of Economics, I love company and hanging out with my friends and boyfriend. I work out 3 times a week and try to eat well (as of late).

What is your position at Becky? Take us through a typical day at work.

I am a medior accountant. In the beginning, my tasks and clients were a bit less complicated, and then, with time, they started getting gradually more complex.

“The work is constant and coworkers are always willing to help.”

Usually, when I go to work (and I love going to the office, the atmosphere is great and the people are amazing) I’m one of the first ones in the office. I get some of the work done before the others arrive so that I can have some coffee with them in peace.

The work is constant and coworkers are always willing to help. There is time for chit-chat but everyone is very professional and gets the work done. The only time the work gets really stressful is during quarter endings.

You mentioned tasks and clients being more and less complex. What does that mean?

I think the most difficult situations are with those who forget to send their documentation on time.

There are also different industries. For example, the hospitality industry: they have a ton of paperwork. Different receipts are sometimes not typed in well, there are errors, there are many different types of papers and you have to sort it all out.

Then you have the IT industry, they have only a couple of Invoices a month and that’s it. So, that would count as an easier task.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in your field?

My advice would be to try and grind as much as you can, while you’re young.

We have a lot of coworkers coming from big audit & accounting firms where they had to work for 12 hours. It’s hard, and it’s a lot, but now they have great references and experience in stressful situations.

On the other side, we have some coworkers who started here, at Becky. And they’ve learned and grown so much. So maybe, start here, then!

What is the best part about working with foreigners?

It’s been a pleasure working with Dutch people. They are very easy-going. Flexible, yet they tell you straight away what it is they need. And they are very polite. No pressure and no stress.

I wouldn’t change my company for anything right now. And their tax system is different than ours and I find it easier to work with.

We have teambuildings every quarter and hang out with some of our Dutch clients and employers and it’s always a great experience.

Imagine they have never been to Belgrade. Where would you take them?

I think I would take them to see the city view from Mama Shelter. That’s what our guests liked so far.

Also, take them to see Kalemegdan, Skadarlija street, Zemun quay, the temple of saint Sava, etc. Maybe some clubs and restaurants at the river.

Describe Becky in 3 words

(1) A great relationship between employer and employees (great company culture) (2) No stress for the employees (3) Awesome team and great coworkers

What would you want your superhero power to be?

I think maybe…reading minds.

Or maybe not. I’m not sure I’d like to know all that’s going on in people’s minds.

Maybe then…teleportation. To be able to teleport from one side of the city to the other. That would be amazing!
