Tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Maja, I have a degree in Trade Marketing and Management. I finished Uni in 2018.

Soon after that, I got a job in an Australian company where I worked for about 3 and a half years. There, I reached the level of Assistant Accountant, something you could say is a little above a Junior accountant.

It was a great experience that thought me a lot about this job, and I learned a lot. Everything I learned, I brought with me here.

I started looking for a different challenge around Covid time. To be honest, I wasn’t that sure there even were opportunities during Covid, and then I got a message on LinkedIn.

To be honest, at a first glance, I thought it was spam. Then, I took a look at their website and realize that not only was it not spam, but it seemed like a great opportunity. I had interviews and then I landed the job in June 2021.

What is your position at Becky? Take us through a typical day at work.

My current position is that of a Junior accountant but I feel I have had some extra duties since the beginning because of the experience I had in my previous job.

I think I’ll know more after the yearly evaluation but I think I’m somewhere in between, like a medior accountant.

I focus better at home, but I love coming to the office because of the social aspect.

As for a typical day, it truly defers depending on whether I work from home or from the office. I have to say that the noise of people can sometimes be distracting and I focus better at home, but I love coming to the office because of the social aspect.

Each working day starts with reading e-mails, then I prioritize what’s the most urgent today. I have some of my own clients that I take care of first, then I take on whatever is needed. Since we have some new colleagues, as of late, I am more involved in training, and workshops, helping them through the procedures and things we do here.

It’s also a VAT month, making it a bit more busy than usual.

How would you describe your job to a small kid?

I think I’d explain it as a puzzle with a hundred pieces that I have to put together before the time runs out. That’s what reports are, plenty of information that fits in a specific place and you have to calculate it perfectly and fit it in.

So, I’d say it’s a puzzle that this girl likes to solve.

Could you describe Becky in 3 words?

(1) Organized (2) Politeness (3) Compassionate

What’s the best and what’s the worst part of working at Becky?

The best thing is the one I mentioned earlier: they are very compassionate. They truly listen to us. It’s been like that since the start. They were always there to give advice and help me overcome any challenge I may have had.

As for the worst, honestly - there’s nothing. I am trying to think about it but at the moment really nothing bugs me. I used to have an issue with WiFi, they helped me fix it. When I asked for a new computer, they gave me one. There’s really nothing I can complain about.

Imagine a foreigner who’s never been to Belgrade. Where would you take them?

Honestly, since I’m not from Belgrade, I would much rather take them to my raspberry farm in Arilje. That’s my favorite place, my piece of heaven, and that’s where they would get to know me best.

But in general, I feel the best thing is to ask people what they like and take them to places that match their interests.

What’s your Hogwarts house?

Gryffindor of course! I’m a big fan of the franchise!

I went to a Harry Potter quiz and it was an awesome experience but it made me realize how little I know of it. I read the books of course, but it was a long time ago - I based most of my knowledge on the movies later on. And they removed a lot from the books so by the end I realized I’m not an expert in Harry Potter just a mediocre admirer.

But the quiz is an experience I’d recommend to everyone!
